Blue verses Red

Humans of all ages, backgrounds and cultures have a color preferences. We all gravitate toward specific colors. Did you know that color has a big impact on your emotions and mood, both physically and mentally? It's also shown to influence how you learn, how productive you are and even how hungry you are. Color is everywhere. Let's examine a few points about color that will help you to use it in a positive and productive way.

Colors act in three basic ways: passive, active and neutral.

You can use your rooms colors to help set a mood. Try to select colors that relate to your own personal style and taste as well as to to the room’s purpose. No matter which color group you select, you will find that the lighter the color, the more airy and expansive the space will be, thus making the rooms appear to be brighter and larger. The darker the color the more warm and sophisticated the space will appear. Darker tones create a more dramatic and intimate appearance.

Color is powerful! It is a communication tool that can be used to signal action, influence mood, and even influence physiological reactions. There are certain colors that have been associated with increased blood pressure as well as envoking peace and calm.. How exactly does color work? This article will explore the color blue and the color red.

Let's talk about the color Blue!

Does the color blue make you feel relaxed, calm and peaceful? As an interior designer and color consultant I believe that color can dramatically affect your moods and emotions, both physically and mentaily.

Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple, and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference hence, the blues!.

~ wisdom

~ loyalty

~ truth

~ focused

~ sincere

~ reserved

Blue is the color that reminds one of truth, loyalty and wisdom. Blue has been shown to have the opposite effect on the brain than the color red does. Blue is calming, is shown to slow the pulse rate as well as reduces fear, pain and tension. It is sincere, reserved, and quiet. Blue is a cool color and thus creates a sense of space. Think the sky and the ocean.

Did you know that blue is the most universally favored color of them all? Blue evokes feelings of trust, loyalty and honesty.

Let's talk about the color Red!

The color red in on the warm side of the color spectrum and includes red, orange, and yellow. These warm colors are known to evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth, coziness and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility.

Aspects of Red:

~ romance

~ warmth

~ comfort

~ energy

~ excitement

~ life

~ blood

~ intensity

The color red attracts attention and declares, "Notice Me".

Red is often associated with feelings of love and passion as well as the opposite such as anger and intensity. It is a universal color that signifies power, courage, strength and even danger. Red is vibrant, stimulating and exciting and is shown to increase your appetite. Think McDonalds and Wendy's use of red in their logos and packaging.

Red is energizing and exciting, Red can motivate us to act. Additionally it can give one confidence.
